To Address Simmental Convention BOZEMAN, Mont. - Jo Ann Smith, Micanopy, Florida, the immediate past president of the National Cattlemen’s Association, will headline the Cattleman’s Forum during the 19th Annual Meeting and Convention of the American Simmental Association. ASA’s Convention will convene in Nashville, Tennessee Feb. 19-21. Smith served as NCA President during 1985, and currently serves as chairperson of the 113-member Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board. This group has the responsibility for ad ministering the industry’s national check-off and promotion program. She also is a member of President Reagan’s Advisory Committee on Trade Negotiations. Her presentation is entitled “In- Chiangus Classic Will Feature Black Steer Show OZARK, Ark. - The 1987 Chiangus Classic, scheduled for Nov. 7 and 8, 1987 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will introduce a black steer show. Names New Leader KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Willard Walker of Walker Charolais Ranch at Springdale, Ark., assumed the leadership role of the American- International Charolais Association at the recent annual membership meeting in Denver, succeeding Tim Reich of Belle Fourche, S.D. Walker, an AICA member since 1968 and active in Charolais af fairs, was first elected to the AICA Board in 1980. He served as the treasurer in 1983 and 1984 and was re-elected as Area 10 director and vice president in 1986. In addition, Walker has been a member of the Rules and Ethics Committee for many years and served on the relocation committee when the AICA office was moved from Houston to Kansas City. Willard and his wife, Pat, have been extremely supportive of the American-International Junior Charolais Association. To assure that some of these young breeders can further their educations, the Walkers recently made a generous donation of $50,000 to the AIJCA scholarship fund.
