Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, Jan. 8,1987
Market Comment: Demand for
ready-to-cook whole birds was
mixed but fair overall. Offerings
were irregular but adequate and
generally more available on 3 lb.
and up sizes. Inquiries in the parts
complex were unaggressive on all
items, however, supplies of white
meat were only adequate at best.
Discounting was prevalent on legs,
leg quarters and particularly
wings as sellers thought levels
sufficient to stimulate movement.
Less than trucklot asking prices
were unchanged at 50-58 cents.
Live supplies were moderate.
Weights were irregular but mostly
desirable to heavy. Slaughter
schedules were again moderately
heavy, and some operations were
planned for Saturday. The un
dertone was steady.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva:
Estimated 1/8 2,026,000; Actual
1/62,036,000.
Average Weights 1/6 4.58, 12/30
4.64.

Comment: Trading activity was
light to occasionally fair. Cutlets
continued to clear satisfactorily
with some sales reported on either
side of 1.90. Line-one breasts were
well-cleared, and buyers were
finding it difficult to find product,
particularly at less than 80 cents.
Rib breasts were in good to close
balance at current price levels.
