Although heavier than anticipated delivery notices against January this morning were expected to lend a bearish tone to today’s trading, a weak U.S. dollar and higher European soymeal values offset that bearishness. Slack country movement overnight and steady interior basis values also sup ported soybean futures. Spillover pressure from declines in live hog futures and sharp losses in the pork belly futures additionally weighed on live cattle futures. ACRES HOG UPDATE: Cash hog prices were steady to $1 higher today with top prices of $47-50 ot $49.75. Light receipts supported cash prices today as lower dressed pork prices and cut-out values limited gains. Live hog futures closed lower as scattered position evening before the new year pressured prices. Further weakness was tied to some ideas on the floor that fresh pork product and cash hog prices Friday would be steady to slightly lower. i* r% ' / rcv Department!
