ACRES SOYBEAN UPDATE:
Soybean futures settled higher and
near session highs, boosted by
carryover short covering from
yesterdy’s higher closes and
strength in soymeal futures.
Although heavier than anticipated
delivery notices against January
this morning were expected to lend
a bearish tone to today’s trading, a
weak U.S. dollar and higher
European soymeal values offset
that bearishness. Slack country
movement overnight and steady
interior basis values also sup
ported soybean futures.
ACRES WHEAT UPDATE:
Wheat futures closed mostly

support prices throughout the day.
ACRES CATTLE UPDATE: Cash
cattle prices were steady to
slightly lower today with tops of
$57.50 to $58.35 on steers and $56 to
$56.50 pn heifers. Light receipts
supported prices while lower
dressed beef prices Tuesday
pressured prices. Live cattle
futures settled lower pressured by
long liquidation, thought to be
position evening before the New
Year. Light volume accentuated

today with top prices of $47-50 ot
$49.75. Light receipts supported
cash prices today as lower dressed
pork prices and cut-out values
limited gains. Live hog futures
closed lower as scattered position
evening before the new year
pressured prices. Further
weakness was tied to some ideas
on the floor that fresh pork product
and cash hog prices Friday would
be steady to slightly lower.
