veteran with over 36 years
research experience, has been
named senior vice president of
product research and development
for the National Dairy Promotion
and Research Board. Emstrom
began his position with the Board
Jan. 1,1967.

presented recently during the
dairy cooperative’s annual
delegate meeting, recognized the

Dairy Board Tabs New Senior Vice President
In making the announcement,
NDPRB, Chief Executive Officer
Joe Westwater said, “We are very

staff. His years of experience in
academia, as well as his expertise

expanding the Board’s product
research and development

gold quality certificate, a plaque

Emstrom earned his doctorate
in Dairy and Food Industries from
the University of Wisconsin; and
his M.S. and B.S. degrees in Dairy
Manufacturing from Utah State.
He began his stint at Utah State
in 1965 as a professor of dairy
science. When the Department of
Nutrition and Food Sciences in the
Colleges of Agriculture and
Family Life was formed in 1971, he
was selected as department head

where he served until 1965.
Emstrom has been active in a
variety of dairy industry
organizations. He has served on
the board of directors of the
American Dairy Science
Association. He has been a
member of the Science Advisory
Board of the United Dairy Industry
Association/Dairy Research, Inc.
He presently serves as editor of
the Journal of Dairy Science and
served as associate editor for 10
years. Emstrom has been the
author or co-author of 85
professional publications and
abstracts related to dairy
products.

Cheese Research; the
Distinguished Service Award of
the American Jersey Cattle Club;
the Cruess Teaching Award from

and the Kraft Teaching Award of

Emstrom will allocate 50 per
cent of his time to the National
Dairy Board and SO percent to the
Department of Nutrition and Food
Sciences at Utah State University
