BROWNSTOWN - Robert
Campbell, Narvon Valley Farm,
Lancaster County, was re-elected
president of the Southeastern
Pennsylvania Ayrshire
Association at their annual
meeting last week.
Elected vice-president was Ann
Young, West Grove, and re-elected
secretary-treasurer was Betty
Henley, Cochranville, both in
Chester County.
Harold Kulp, Pottstown, Chester
County, was elected to serve as
State Director. Wes Harding,
Lebanon, and Warren Schmuck,
Peach Bottom in Lancaster
County, were elected to serve a
two-year term as director of the
local organization. George Seidel,
Womelsdorf, Berks County, and
Ed Henley Cochranville, are
serving another year of their two
year terms.
Members attending the annual
meeting voted not to increase
annual dues, keeping them at the
current $5, but decided to be more
aggressive in notifying members
of their status in paying dues.
They also voted to continue to
make available $lOO to a young
person toward the purchase of an
Ayrshire calf to be used as a
project animal. Runners-up in the
contest will receive subscriptions
to the Ayrshire Digest. In
formation about the contest will be
mailed to the 30 vocational
agricultural departments in the
southeast region.

achievement and an essay on
raising a calf. Applicants are
asked to be part of a personal in
terview to select the winner.
Members also voted to continue
sending subscriptions to the
Ayrshire Digests to the 30
vocational agriculture depart
ments in their area. Charles Gale,
Elverson, Chester County, an
nounced that he will be running for
the position of National Director.
It was announced that the state
association will be working to help
host the World Ayrshire Con
ference in 1988. The group will be
spending two days in Penn
sylvania.
Brubaker told the group that
Betty Kiefer will be serving as
assistant secretary treasurer in
the coming year. The winter
meeting of the state Ayrshire
Association will be held on
Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Farm Show
Building. The Ayrshires will be
shown beginning at 11 a.m., and
the business meeting will begin
approximately one hour following
the show.
