County Holstein Association held
its annual dinner meeting on Dec. 8

Scott Sell and Bruce Dietrich
were elected to fill two openings on
association’s board of directors.
Junior members recognized for
achievements with their 4-H dairy
projects were: Steven Dietrich,
Shannon Semmel and Andrea
Semmel.
Ken Raney, membership
director of the state association,
encouraged members to place an
ad in Profiles the association’s
magazine. He also reminded
members to renew their state
Holstein association membership
by Jan. 22.
Raney noted the state convention
would be held Feb. 24 to 26 in
Wilke-Barre; the spring show and
sale is slated for March 26 to 28 in
Harrisburg.
Ernest Miller, a Berk County
dairy fanner and the guest
speaker for the evening, presented
a slide show on his recent trip to
Russia and China.

the National Milk Producers
Federation convention Dec. 1 to 5
in Las Vegas, Nev., as the Young
Cooperator representatives of
Eastern Milk Producers
Cooperative.
It is the second time that Eastern
has sent young farm couples to the
federation’s national convention.

Bottom, Pa., noted that the Young
Cooperator program “helps
prepare member farmers” bet

cooperative leadership. ’ ’
The Barretts have been farming
in partnership with Kevin’s
parents for the past 13 years. Their
Towanda farm consists of 500-plus
acres with 80 head of the Holstein
cattle.
Pullis and his wife are also
partners with his parents. Their
500-acre farm in Richfield Springs
has 80 milking Holsteins.
