Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, Dec. 4,1986
Market Comment; Demand for
ready to cook whole birds was slow
for the most part. Offerings con
tinued to increase and discounting
was prevalent in the market in an
effort to clear stocks. Inquiry in
the parts complex ranged slow to
only fair. White meat, particularly
breasts, were ample and trading at
sharply lower prices; other items
were at least fully adequate. Less
than trucklot asking prices were
two cents lower at 50-56 cents and
negotiable. Live supplies’ were at
least moderate. Weights continued
desirable to mostly heavy.
Slaughter schedules were light
overall. The undertone was weak.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva:
Estimated 12/4 1,837,000; Actual
11/27 no kill.
Actual 12/21,898,000.
Average Weights 12/2 4.68, 11/25
4.54.
