New Small Tractor Lineup From Case RACINE, Wise. - Case IH in troduces four new 200 Series tractors in the under-30 hor sepower range, able to tackle a wide variety of smaller-scale applications with power and agility. These compact, versatile tractors, with PTO horsepowers of 15.2 to 27, are designed to help the part-time farmer get the most put of his acres, to help the specialty crops grower work quickly and the turf-care specialist to perform more satisfactorily in year-round estate and general grounds keeping. The 220 Series features the Models 235, 245, and 255, improved versions of the previous Models 234,244 and 254, plus a new Case IH tractor Model 275. The mid-mount PTO, available on all models except the gear drive Model 235, provides direct power flow to front- and mid-mounted implements. Synchronized tran smission with live PTO is standard on the 275 and optional on all other models except the gear drive Model 235. All 200 Senes tractors feature foldable ROPS for operator safety. The Model 275 tractor, with 31 engine horsepower and 27 PTO horsepower, is the most powerful, versatile tractor in the 200 Senes. This workhorse replaces many of the older 25-horsepower tractors previously used on farms and features 540/1150 live rpm PTO and a comfortable flat deck, like that of larger tractors, for con venient mounting and maximum operating comfort. Conference registration is on a daily basis to encourage em ployers to bring key employees for one or more days of training and information. This program offers something for everyone m the nursery landscape-garden center industry. For the production nurseryman, there will be talks on propagation, deciding what to grow, container media and the selection of equipment. Garden center operators can learn how to better and more ef ficiently display their products, use signs and labels and promote their business. Landscape contractors will hear how others in their business use variations in their designs and plant materials to gain an edge over their competitors. They can also learn how some operations are using computers to aid with designing and bidding. Hollar, research aide for the plant nutrition laboratory in the Department of Horticulture at Penn State, was honored for his 25 years of service with the College of Agriculture at an awards ceremony yesterday. Hollar specializes in plant leaf analysis for research and ex tension. Using a spectrometer, he scans plant material for 12 elements, such as phosphorus, potash and nitrogen and prepares reports for researchers in the College and Agriculture as well as for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Research Station at Beltsville, the Eodale Institute, other universities, and state departments of agriculture. After graduating from Butler High School in Ohio, he entered the Air Force and was assigned coding and statistical work. In 1951 he moved to Bellefonte to work as a laboratory technician with Cerro Copper and Brass Company, then known as Titan Metal Company. Ten years later a story in the newspaper about Penn State’s new spectrometer prompted him to call the plant nutrition lab about working with it. He’s been there ever since.
