Slaughter steers and heifer
prices ended the week on a steady
level, having recovered at the
close, some early session losses.
An uptrending dressed beef trade
and a good packer demand
provided the impetus for the mid
week recovery. Overall finish
proved fair. Slaughter cows 1.50-1
3.00 lower. Bulls 2.00 lower.
Estimated 5 day receipts 6,000;
actuals last week 5,676; year ago
6,638. Steers comprised 44 percent
of the week’s receipts; heifers 42
percent; cows 8 percent; feeders 5
percent.
