Pa. Bull Tops American Royal Angus Show
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A strong set
of Angus breeding cattle were on
hand for the Roll of Victory Angus
Show held during the 1986
American Royal Livestock Show in
Kansas City, Missouri. Breeders
exhibited a total number of 96 bulls
and heifers in front of judge Eldon
Krebs, Gordon, Nebraska.
In the bull show, both the grand
and reserve grand champion came
from the junior yearling class.

USDA To Survey
Hog Producers
HARRISBURG - Increases in
expected farrowings, along with
declining sow slaughter indicate
the breeding of hogs and pigs may
be stabilizing after two years of
substantial declines.
Actions taken by hog producers
will be measured in a nationwide
survey conducted in late
November and early December by
USDA’s National Agriucltural
Statistics Service. Survey results
for Pennsylvania and other states
will be issued December 22,
estimating the inventory of hogs
and pigs on the nation’s farms and
the expected pig crop for the
following six months.
Winter wheat farmers in 42
producing states will be contacted
to estimate acres planted to winter
wheat. The total 1986 wheat crop is
expected to be the lowest output

seedlings, to be released in mid-
January for each state producing
winter wheat, will assist producers
in their marketing plans and help
others make decisions on grain
transportation, procession and
foreign trade.
Wallace Evans, statistician in
charge of the Pennsylvania
Agricultural Statistics Service,
said about 2,200 Keystone farmers
will be contracted to develop
estimates for Pennsylvania. He
stresses that individual responses
will be kept confidential and used
only in developing official state

In group competition, Cobble
Pond New Yorker progeny won the
get and junior get-of-sire classes.
The get champions were shown by
Riverside Farms and Genetics
Unlimited Inc. The junior get
winners were exhibited by Nor
thcote Farm, Forest, Virginia;
Gallaghers Farm Inc., Ghent, New
York; and B L C Angus Ranch,
Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Riverside
Farms put together the best six
head.
The senior champion bull was
Waldeck Shocker. He is owned by
Harry Weining, ShelbyviUe,
Kentucky; Premier Angus Inc.,
