land grants from William Penn,
while others were purchased for as
little as $4 per acre. Many of the
farm homes built in 1800 s are still
in use.
The Century Farms Program
was begun in 1976 as part of the
bicentennial celebration and has
been coordinated by the
Agriculture Department since its
inception.
The Department has recognized
the following farms during the first
11 months of 1986:
Adams County
