PROFIT-TIER. 20
Big Dutchman has taken its low profile cage and
condensed the overall section width to produce the
Profit-Tier 20 system. This four tier 84 inch wide system
is designed to maximize density in new or existing
houses.
The Profit-tier 20 features the Champion Feeding System
with in-line feed hoppers with belt or gear motor drive.
Rigid leg frames with feed trough supports provide
suspension and maintain proper alignment for the
system.

up, membership increased and the
veal calves looked great to the
judge of the show as well as to the
many buyers who bid on the 22
calves offered after the show, at
the Leesport Market and Auction.
Grand champion of the show and
the highest seller at the sale at
$1.50 per pound, was the 355
pounder belonging to Joleen
Herbert, WemersvUle. This was
the first year in 4-H for 9 year old
Joleen, daughter of David Herbert.
Her grand champion veal calf was
purchased by Bill Weist of the
Leesport Market and Auction.
Joleen credited her father with
the expertise on raising a cham
pion vealer. “We feed free choice
milk and water,” Dave Herbert
stated about the veal calf. Adding
that he has experimented with
feeding choice vealers for the past
three years, he explained that he
uses a homemade feeder for the
milk replacer and keeps it free
choice in the pen. “At the end,” he
explains, “the calf was consuming
about six pounds of dry powder a
day, and the judge said it could
have had more.”
Judging the event was Delores
Dutchman.

“She basically looked for a well
rounded, fat, heavy calf,” stated
Jerry Krone, 4-H leader, about the
judge’s selections. He added that
the judge was looking for a finished
weight at 14 to 16 weeks of age of
375 to 425 pounds.
At 440 pounds the reserve grand
champion caught the judge’s eye.
The veal calf of Scott Youse, Oley
R 2, brought $1.35 per pound on the
bid of Scott Hausman representing
Agway. Unable to attend this event
because of the national FFA
convention in Kansas City, Youse
relied on his parents and friends to
show his project calf.
Second high price of the sale
went to the champion lightweight
also raised by Scott Youse. Carl
Brown, representing F.M. Browns
Sons Feeds, purchased this well
rounded veal calf for $1.45 per
