Only if you care! ... Care enough
about Lancaster County's future;
about the unique character and
heritage we enjoy, about the
diversify and health of our
economy and about the quality and
beauty of this countryside, then
support Friends of Agricultural Land
Preservation.
iriends” is a unique private non-profit organization devoted to the voluntary
preservation of our most productive agricultural lands in the context of sound community
planning and guided growth and development and in public-private partnership with
the Lancaster County Agricultural Preserve Board.
Lancaster County is a dynamically growing metropolitan county beginning to suffer
the ills of many larger metropolitan areas disappearing farmland, suburban sprawl, traffic
congestion, flash flooding and overcommercialization. But.. .as we mature as a
community we have an opportunity.. .an urgent opportunity both to guide growth and to
protect and preserve our most important farmlands through hard work, commitment,
careful public policy and private land preservation dollars. “Friends” looks to the hearts of
Lancaster Countians and the time is NOW. The next generation may be left with too
few choices.
December, 50 farms will have been saved for future generations through voluntary
commitment, technical assistance, tax incentives, heart felt love for the land and THE
LANCASTER COUNTY AGRICULTURAL LAND PRESERVATION FUND, supported
by “Friends”. But Lancaster County’s 5000 farms are under both on-farm economic pressure
and outside development pressure. Saving the best farmland is our generation’s challenge.
W 4, the members and Board of Directors of “Friends” urge your support,.., your
commitment to a future Lancaster County that we and our children can cherish as home
Please Care.. .Farmland Preservation.. .It’s Worth It
