heifers cause reduced per
formance and increased injuries
due to riding and pen disturbances.
Pregnant heifers are a liability,
due to their docking at slaughter
and reduced yields, and as a result,
feeders 1 > e found spaying to be
an altern- Mve.”
Feedlot heifer management,
including feeding of MGA
(melengestrol acetate) to keep
heifers from heat cycling, is
discussed by a university ex
tension veterinarian and a feedlot
manager.
