Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, Oct. 30,1986
Market Comment; movement of
ready to cook whole birds was a bit
disappointing in some quarters but
generally noted as sufficient to
keep offerings clearing satisfac
torily. Supplies of cutlets and rib
breasts were in good overall
balance, and prices were
somewhat steadier today. Linerun
breasts were in closest balance.
Wings continued to clear well while
leg meat was at least adequate for
prompt delivery. Less than truck
lot asking prices were unchanged
at 56 to 62 cents. Live supplies were
moderate to occasionally
moderately heavy. Weights con
tinued mixed in a full range.
Slaughter schedules were just
moderate with a few plants noting
down-time on Friday. The un
dertone was about steady.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva;
Estimated 10/30 1,852,000; Ac
tual 10/231,747,000.
Actual 10/281,852,000,
Average Weights 10/28 4.45,
10/214.44.

Philadelphia Eggs
Thursday, Oct. 30,1986
Report Supplied by USDA
Market Comment; Prices
continued to edge higher. Trade
sentiment was at least fully steady
at most points. Cartoned
movement was mixed but
generally good, particularly where
retail featuring was planned or in
progress. Some orders were noted
as better as buyers took additional
product for the upcoming first of
the month period earlier than
normal in an effort to stay ahead of
advancing prices. Breaker interest
remained quite active, and some
sellers viewed movement as
gradable offering to breakers as
tightening available supplies for
consumer use. Farm offerings
were generally light and often
limited to small volumes. Graded
stocks were in good balance to
closely cleared.
