Holstein Calf Raffle
STATE COLLEGE - The
Pennsylvania Junior Holstein
Association announced the kick-off
for its seventh Annual Calf Raffle.
The monies raised through this
project support the many
programs and activities of the
Junior Holstein Association in
Pennsylvania. These include
Junior Judging Schools, Bus Trips,
Milk and Fat Contest,
Distinguished Junior Member
Contest and various awards at
shows.
The calf this year is a June calf
by Thonyma Electra out of the
famed Paulo-Bro EMP Columbia
per head.

Milk Co-ops

Lehigh equities will be revolved
back to their respective members
on an accelerated plan.
• A two-tier quality premium
program has been developed.
Qualifying members will be paid
either a 10-cent or 20-cent per
hundredweight premium based on
the quality of their milk.
Overall, Atlantic is expected to
generate initital annual earnings
of 15 cents per hundredweight, or
over $5 million. Milk volumes are
estimated at over 3.5 billion pounds
annually.
This volume of milk would be
produced by approximately 4,264
dairy farmers the combined
membership of Inter-State and
Lehigh. Currently, Inter-State’s
membership totals 3,004 and
Lehigh, 1,260.
During the next three weeks,
Inter-State and Lehigh
representatives will meet with
their respective members to
discuss details of the merger
proposal. A final vote is expected
by Nov. 19.
Inter-State Milk Producers’
Cooperative represents over 3,000
dairy farm families in Penn
sylvania, New Jersey, Delaware,
Maryland, Virginia and West
Virginia. Lehigh Valley Farmers,
headquarterd in Bethlehem,
represents over 1,200 members in
Pennsylvania, Maryland, New
Jersey and New York.
