AIG-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 1,1986 Oklahoma City Feeder Cattle Thursday, Oct. 30 Report supplied by USDA Weekly Cattle Summary; Compared with last Tuesday— feeder steers and heifers under 600# 1.00-3.00 higher; over 600# 1.00- 2.00 higher. Sunshine and Indian summer weather seemed to cancel last weeks negative feelings about where feeder price levels should settle. Advances on dressed beef and slaughter steer and heifer prices also bolstered demand for feeders. Slaughter cows firm to 1.00 higher. The last two weeks cow numbers increased substancially, running 10-12% of total offerings. Buffering the impact of the larger cow run were country buyers competing aggressively with packers for numbers. Slaughter bulls 1.00-2.00 lower. Bull demand light. Bull prices declining for the fifth consecutive week. Receipts this week near 14,000 head; last week’s number 20,096; last years count 21,625. Feeder steers and heifers made up 88% of supply; cows and bulls 12%.
