USDA Program Will
WASHINGTON - Under
Secretary of Agriculture Daniel G.
Amstutz recently announced plans
for a program that will provide $3.2
million to promote U.S. exports of
high-value and processed foods.
“Our processed and high-value
food products are hampered not
only by import restrictions in
many large markets, but also by
unfair competition from subsidized
food exports by the European
Community,” Amstutz said. “Our
goal with this program is to
counter the effects of these
practices by stepping up our
promotional activities for U.S. food
products that are new to a par
ticular market.”
The program will support a wide
range of activities, including
media and direct mail advertising,
market research, participation in
trade fairs, and point-of-sale
