    Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, Oct. 23,1986
Market Comment: Demand for
ready to cook whole birds was
mixed but generally improved in
all quarters. Offerings, although
adequate, had tapered sharply
compared to earlier in the week. In
the parts complex white meat was
adequate to fully adequate. Dark
meat items cleared easier at some
plants than others. Wings are
mixed and moved at some points,
just fair elsewhere. Less than
trucklot asking prices were again
lower at 56-60 cents, however,
sellers held additional product
with increased confidence, live
supplies were moderate to light.
Weights were mixed but mostly
desirable. Slaughter schedules
were moderate with down-time
planned for both Friday and
Monday. The undertone was
steadier.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva:
Estimated 10/23 1,863,000; Ac
tual 10/16 2,012,000.
Actual 10/211,931,000.
Average Weights 10/21 4.46,
10/144.45.
