The county claims the honor of being the second strongest 4-H county in the state and chose the middle of National 4-H week to make the presentations. Over 14 leaders received recognition for tenure of 25 years and over. Netti Bare, Harvey High and Eleanore Nelson were honored for 25 years of service. The remaining leaders who serve as the foundation of the leaders corps are: Ken Eshelman, 26 years; Anna Geyer, 27 years; Elvin Hess, 28 years; Carl Nestleroth, 31 years; Mervin Peifer, 32 years; Lester Weaver, Milton Brubaker, 33 years; Mrs. Woodrow Good, 36 years; and Mylin Good, Ruth Nissley, 39 years. 4-H honor roll winners in the senior division included; Lori Rutt, Also, Grace Bixler of Marietta Stacy Goss, Linda Bentram, Sallie received special recognition for 35 Gregory, Amy Jo Strausbaugh and years of service. BY JOYCE BUPP York County Correspondent YORK - Jefferson Community Club has been selected the Out standing 4-H Club in York County for 1986. The Jefferson Club members, along with numerous individual winners, were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments during the annual achievement night, Oct. 9, held at the 4-H Center near Bair. Keynote speaker for the evening program was State Senator Ralph Hess. Named rookie winners for the year were Cindy Miller and Benjamin Kuhn. Robin Shive and John Brenneman were the out standing junior boy and girl, and the outstanding senior was David Lentz. Lentz, Sue Eisenhart, and Ronald Horn Jr., were named to the Ambassador Team, a public relations and 4-H promotion group. Winners of officer awards are Recognizes Over 640 4-H Leaders leader with the Mount Joy Sewing Club. “I thought there was a need for girls to know how to sew,” Grace said in explaining why she became involved as a leader. The outstanding number of Lancaster County leaders who are still involved with 4-H after their children are grown has prompted a visit from an extension agent from Oregon. The agent will be traveling to Pennsylvania next week to participate in the National 4-H Agents Conference as well as interviewing some veteran leaders. She is working this subject for her doctorate thesis. Lancaster County boasts a large number of leaders in every level of tenure; the largest level being first ■year leaders with 132 members. York County Honors Christa Shultz, outstanding secretary; Mary Muller, out standing historian and Tina Jacoby, outstanding reporter. In the junior project awards, individual winners are: air rifle, Travis Goodling; basketweaving, Stephanie Gladfelter; beef, Robin Shive; bird project, Steve Wherley; cake decorating, Ben jamin Kuhn; ceramics, Dona Horn; clothing, Beth Schultz; dairy, Annie Rauhauser; design with color, Michelle Large. Also, dog, Vanessa Debnam; foods and nutrition, John Bren neman; horse, Tanya Barr; indoor gardening, Wendy Debnam; needlework, Julie Ann Hughes; outdoor flowers, Kelly Jo Kern; pet care, Matthew Fisher; poultry, Amy Shaffer; rifle, Benjamin Kessler; sheep, Joseph Caudill; strawberries, Jeffrey Douglas; swine, Tim Jacoby; textile painting, Crystal Emig; tractor, munity support awards to Luke Bruckhart, Farm Credit and Ken Brubaker for their assistance with the county 4-H auction which netted $3,300. She also presented a community support award to Bob Keener of Hy Cross Hatchery. Keener donates 40 dozen fertilized eggs yearly for use in the embryology program. Jay Irwin, county extension director, gave the Elmer and Pauline Boyd memorial award to Lancaster County’s outstanding 4- Hers, Sallie Gregory and Stacy Nestleroth. Lori Sutt, county public speaking winner and a member of the Kids’N Kows and Solanco Community Clubs, was the main speaker. Portraying the Statue of Liberty, she urged the audience to increase their consumption of dairy products. Mike Mylin from Penn Manor Community Club and presented his award winning performance from the Lancaster County 4-H Talent Show. 4-H Lenders Scott Marstellar; vegetable gardening, Trent Goodling; wildlife, Christine Lentz; and wood science, Jessica Price.
