Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, Oct. 16,1986
Market Comment: Demand for
ready to cook whole birds
remained sluggish overall. Of
ferings continued ample, and most
movement was generated through
price concessions. Demand for
part items remained selective.
Legs and leg quarters were
clearing at lower trending prices.
Other items were adequate to
ample. Less then trucklot asking
prices were generally two to four
cents lower with some spot
willingness to negotiate into the
low to mid-50’s to stimulate sales.
Live supplies were at least
moderate. Weights remained
mixed in a full range. Slaughter
schedules were heavy. The un
dertone was weak and unsettled.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva:
Estimated 10/16 2,006,000; Ac
tual 10/91,730,000.
Actual 10/141,945,000.
Average Weights 10/14 4.55,10/7
4.45.

Market Comment: Prices
trended higher on large and extra
large, unchanged on mediums.
Trade sentiment was fully steady
to firm on.the large sizes, only
about steady on the lighter
weights. Movement was moderate
to good, and dealers held stock
with confidence. Supplies of jumbo
and extra large were in good
balance to tight; large were in
good overall balance. Mediums
were fully adequate to ample, and
smalls were increasing in
availability. Breakers continued to
work with mediums, finding good
heavy weight product somewhat
tight and difficult to procure.
