    English Breeders Buy High Cow At Mun-Cre Dispersal

MUNCY - For $20,000 Premier
Breeders of England purchased
Mun-Cre Sensation Konnie-ET, the
top priced cow at Lester Poust’s
Mun-Cre Farm’s herd dispersal,
Oct. 9, at Muncy.
The vital statistics on Konnie as
a two-year-old are: 19,990 pounds
of milk, 4.1 test, 820 pound of fat
and 691 pound of protein in 365
days. Her cow index is plus 666
milk plus .13 percent, plus 47 fat,
plus $ll7. She classified VG-87 with
an Excellent mammary system.
Konnie possesses an outstanding
pedigree. She is a Neil out of Mun-
Cre Farm’s Edgend Elevation
Lucky Notkin, 2E-93 who is also
known as Poust’s “Kitty cow.”
Kitty was excellent in all
categories and as a five-year-old
produced 25,669 milk with 5.3
percent fat in 365 days. Konnie is a
maternal sister to Edgend Jet St.
Kathy 3E-91, and was sold open
with several embryo contracts.
“She'has a real good test and
protein, she’s from an outcross
sire, and she is from a strong
breeding family,” observed Al
Munson concerning Konnie.
Munson is with the New York
Holstein Association and sub
mitted the bid on Konnie for
Premier Breeders.

Tradition Lacey, VG-87, for $11,500
which made her the second highest
priced cow at the sale. Lacey, who
is bred to Whittier Farms Ned Boy,
possesses a DHIR record of 19,888
milk, 3.6 test, 707 fat, and 640
protein. She is a grand dam of the
famous Mun-Cre Elevation Lasso
2E, 95-GMD who scored Excellent
in every category and produced
30,302 milk, 4 percent fat and 1,208
fat in 365 days.
Lacey’s dam, Mun-Cre Con
ductor Laffer, VQ-88, produced
23,013 milk with 4.0 test in 365 days
and earned a cow index of plus 640
milk and plus 30fat.
Mun-Cre Valiant Kathleen-ET,
VG-87 also a daughter of Poust’s
Kitty Cow and a maternal sister to
Edgend Jet St. Kathy, brought the
third highest price of $B,OOO. Alan
McCauley, Elizabethtown, was the
buyer.
Kathleen’s grand dam was out of
Round Oak Rag Apple Eleyation.
As a 3-year-old Kathleen produced
22,285 milk, 4.2 test and 927 pounds
of fat. Her cow index is plus 712
,milk, plus 45 fat. She is bred to
Bossir Glen-Valley-Star-Lite AL.
Sale average for 64 head of cattle
was $2,353. More than 200 people
from as far away as Wisconsin
attended the sale.

Auer Named Credit Council VP
WASHINGTON - Kenneth E
Auer has been named vice
president for legislation of The
Farm Credit Council, the
Washington-based trade
association for the Farm Credit
System. Auer’s appointment was
announced by Council President
John A. Waits.
For the past two years, Auer
served as director of legislation for
the Council. As vice president, it
will be Auer’s responsibility to
develop, recommend and im
plement plans for management of
governmental issues of concern to
the Council, and in so doing to
serve as the Council’s principal
technical resource and legislative
representative.
Prior to his work with the
Council, Auer was a professional
staff member of the U.S. Senate
Committee on Appropriations for
seven years. In his position as staff
member of the Senate Ap
propriations Committee, Auger
was responsible for overseeing the
annual Agriculture, Rural
Development and Related
Agencies Appropriations Bill; he
analyzed and formulated positions
on the budgets of the Department
of Agriculture, the Farm Credit
Administration and others.

A native of Abington, Penn
sylvania, . Auer received his
bachelor’s degree from Ursinus
College in Pennsylvania, and did"
work toward his master’s degree
in political science at St. Louis
University. He and his wife,
Denise, and their three children
make their home in a Northern
Virginia suburb of Washington.
