Annual Forage Conference To Focus On Profitability UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The 1986 annual Forage Conference, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Forage and Grassland Council in cooperation with The Penn sylvania State University, will take place on Nov. 25 at the Keller Conference Center at Penn State. The conference, which begins with registration at 9 a.m., and continues until 3:30 p.m., will focus on the role of forages in dairy profitability. Dairy nutritionist Dr. Neal Jorgenson, associate dean and director of the Wisconsin Agriculture Experiment Station, will deliver the keynote address. He will cover the newer concepts in forage quality with emphasis on the use of fiber analysis such as neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF). He will also describe how Wisconsin has used forage quality analysis in setting up hay auctions. Dr. Richard Adams, Penn State dairy extension specialist, will speak on formulating a sound nutrition program.
