Slaughter cows met with sharp downturns on the close and prices closed 1.00-2.00 lower. Slaughter bulls weak to 1.00 lower. Estimated 5 day receipts of cattle this week 7,000 compared to actuals last week of 7,553 and 8,732 last year. Slaughter steers ac counted for 36 percent of receipts this week, slaughter heifers 37 percent, slaughter cows 5 percent and feeder cattle 20 percent. Spnsored by the University of Delaware, the Delaware Cooperative Extension System and the Delmarva Poultry Industry, the course will consist of four weekly meetings featuring speakers from industry and university research programs. Three of the sessions will be held at the Georgetown Center and the fourth will be at the Holiday Inn at Salisbury, Md. Registration is $2O, and the course is open to everyone regardless of race, color, sex, handicap, age or national origin. The opening program will feature a talk on nutrition and physiology of broiler breeder males by Dr. Gayner R. McDaniel of Auburn University. Dr. Paul Marini of Arbor Acres Farm will also speak on live, dressed and foliage plants for the home, patio plants and hanging baskets, a nature walk with shade-loving plants, and a landscaped garden gazebo. The Hort Show is managed, organized and constructed by Penn State students in the Horticulture Club. The November 12 meeting will focus on body fat.
