That fact was reaffirmed at the Keystone International Livestock Expo last Saturday when the 12- year-old daughter of Dr. Michael McClellan and Mr. and Mrs. Brian Jordan took grand champion honors in the junior Angus show. Brian and Judith Jordan are the owners of Fox Hill Farm, Kennett Square. Stealing the show is nothing new for Erica’s heifer, Lady Evelyn, who won her class at this year’s National Junior Angus Show. An Independence daughter, the heifer was purchased at the Cow Power Sale in Ghent, New York last year. Overall, the Fox Hill family had a banner day, with Erica’s brother, Matthew, taking a first-in class ribbon with his heifer, Princess, and their brother, Chris Jordan, taking bred-and-owned honors with his heifer named Babe. At reserve in the Angus show was a Pine Drive Big Sky daughter owned by Nancy Secrest, 19, daughter of James and Carol Secrest of Caldwell, Ohio. The female was also the bred-and owned champion at the Ohio Angus Preview Show. Charolais For his champion in the Charolais show, judge Ron Bolze of Ohio State University selected a February heifer shown by Amy Sherman of Abbottstown. “I like it when they pick the younger ones,” beamed the daughter of Charles and Karol Sherman. Her heifer named Gina is a Silver Creek Summit daughter that was reserve Breeding Cattle Honors Abbottstown champion at the York Fair last month. The reserve Charolais heifer was shown by Kirk Fisher, son of Steve and Margie Fisher of Oley. His heifer was homebred and sired by Silver Creek High Rise, last year’s national champion bull. Fisher’s heifer was champion at the Eastern National Livestock Show in Maryland last week. The Mullinix brothers from Woodbine, New Jersey took both champion and reserve honors in this show. In his Keystone debut, Chris, 11, showed the champion, a GK Transtar daughter out of one of the 4-H’ers own cows. Before winning at KILE, the heifer was also named champion at the ' - AUTOMATIC jS/ ' MILLS !•?>• • No Dusty Hammers • Nutritious Roughage Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 11, 1986-C5 Polled Hereford Better Feed At Low Cost • More Milk Per Cow • Modular Construction Maryland State Fair. Simmental An April heifer named Vickie went all the way to the top for Sally Messick of Middletown in the Simmental show. The heifer was sired by Signal and is out of an Extra Stretch cow. The daughter of Mylin and Doris Messick, Sally showed her heifer at last year’s Farm Show, where she placed first in her class.
