Beaver Fair Sells Livestock Champions BY CRAIG BINGMAN Snyder Co. Correspondent BEAVER SPRINGS - The youth livestock sale at the 58th annual Beaver Fair in Beaver Springs brought out over 20 bid ders looking to purchase quality FFA and 4-H animals. Twenty three youths participated in the annual auction that sold 41 market animals. Setting a Beaver Fair record for market lamb price was Jenny Zerby’s grand champion lamb. Her 100-pound Suffolk-Dorset cross lamb, sired by the Zerby’s purebred Suffolk ram, brought an impressive $4.10 per pound by NCB Bank. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nevin Zerby of RDI Beaver Springs, 10-year-old Jenny is a fifth-grade student and very active in4-H. Jimmie Kodlick’s 115-pound reserve grand champion purebred Dorset lamb was purchased by Sunset Ice Cream for $3 per pound. Jimmie, also owner of the open market black lamb champion, is a 16-year-old senior at West Snyder High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Kodlick, RDI, Beaver Springs. Jimmie’s 4-H lamb was later resold by Sunset Ice Cream with the proceeds going to the 4-H and FFA livestock sale fund. The grand champion hog owned by FFA member Kelly Klingler brought a respectable |2.IS per pound. Her 220-pound Yorkshire- Landrace hog was purchased by Keister’s Middlelpirg Auction Sales Inc. Kelly & & 1966 - graduate of Selinsgrove High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Klingler of RDI, Selin sgrove. A 190-pound Hampshire- Yorkshire cross owned by Matt Shoemaker was sold to Harold Meiser. The reserve grand champion hog brought $1.70 per pound. Shoemaker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Shoemaker of RDI, Selinsgrove and is a sophomore FFA member at Selinsgrove High School. Chad Hummel’s grand champion steer was purchased by N. S.
