ABS President Honored
DE FOREST, Wise. - Dr.
Robert E. Walton, president and
general manager of American
Breeders Service, has received the
Distinguished Service Award from
the National Association of Animal
Breeders.
The award, presented recently
at the 40th Annual Convention of
NAAB, was made in recognition of
Walton’s distinguished service and
outstanding contributions to the
development of the artificial in
semination industry.
Walton joined ABS in 1962 as a
geneticist to design and implement
the first progeny testing program
for dairy cattle. He was named
president of the company in 1968
and since that time has received
numerous honors for his con
tributions to the livestock and
dairy industries.
Walton was born and raised near
Shattuck, Oklahoma. He earned
B.S. and M.S. degrees from
Oklahoma State University and a
Ph.D. degree in Animal Breeding
from lowa State. He also holds a
certificate from Harvard Business
School for Management
Development.
