    Worcester County Holds 4-H/FFA Fair
SNOW HILL, Md. The second
annual livestock auction was held
recently in conjunction with the
Worcester County 4-H/FFA Fair,
Snow Hill, Maryland.
The grand champion market hog

Figgs, Snow Hill. It was purchased
as a feeder pig from William
Sirman, Sr., Newark, Md. and
weighed 233 pounds. S & J Vallan
Livestock bought the champion
hog for $3 a pound. They have
buying stations at both Snow Hill,
mm
Md. and Gumboro, Del. and nave
been supporters of 4-H livestock
sales for many years
the Delmarva Peninsula.
Hatfield Packing Co., also a
long-time 4-H supporter, pur
chased the reserve champion
market hog for $2.50 a pound. It
was a home-raised crossbred
shown by Vicki Reed, the 1986
Maryland Pork Queen.
The grand champion steer was a
1,195 pound Chi Angus shown by
Billy Hall, also of Snow Hill. It was
purchased last fall at the Piedmont
Invitational Club calf sale and sold
to Ned Dykes, Twin Post Farm,
Princess Anne, Md.
The grand champion market
lamb was purchased from Jim
Satterfield of Felton, Del., and
raised by Vicki Reed. Worcester
Co. Extension agents Barbara
Nelson-Parkinson and Sandy
Facinoh teamed up to buy the 119-
pound lamb for $l.Ol a pound.
Other buyers at the sale included
Ralph Nichols Livestock,
Fruitland, Md. and Goff’s Market.
Snow Hill, Md.
Dr. Robert Herr, Nix-Besser
Farm, Narvon, Pa. judged the
sheep and swine. John Stump,
Street, Md. judged the beef show.
Pete Richardson was auctioneer.
