trip South talking to the buyers, tobacco farmers and
seeing auction houses. We will give you up-to-date
information on the tobacco industry when we hold our
first meeting on Tuesday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. at
Martin’s Auction House in Intercourse. We will also try
to answer your questions at that time.
We would like all farmers who completely lost their
tobacco crops in the recent hail storms to call the
auction house and leave your name and address. Our
Field Rep., Mitch White, will come to your farm to talk
to you.
Use special care when handling your tobacco. It may
result in better prices for your crop.

week. Buyer demand proved
generally good and overall finish
appeared fairly attractive.
Slaughter cows 1.003.00 higher,
slaughter bulls steady to 1.00
higher.
Estimated 5 day receipts this
week 5,900 compared to actuals
last week for the holiday shortened
week of 3,859 and actuals last year
of 7,945. Slaughter steers com
prised 43 percent of the week’s
receipts, slaughter heifers 41
percent, slaughter cows 7 percent
