Delmarva Poultry
Thursday, Sept. 11,1986
Market Comment; Demand for
ready to cook whole birds was
somewhat selective and centered
on tight supplies of three pound
and larger sizes. Inquiry for
heavier weights have tapered and
offerings were easily available.
Demand for white meat continued
good while legs and leg quarters
remained discounted. Wings were
irregularly available but at least
adequate. Less than trucklot
asking prices were unchanged at
64-73 cents. Live supplies were
currently moderate but tightening.
Weights remained fairly heavy but
were showing some declines at
most plants. Slaughter schedules
were heavy. The undertone was
barely steady.
Estimated slaughter of broiler
fryers in Delmarva:
Estimated 9/11 2,014,000; Actual
9/41,999,000.
Actual 9/91,986,000.
Average Weights 9/9 4.63, 9/2
4.73.

Market Comment; Prices
trended two cents higher on all
sizes. Movement remained good at
all levels of trading. Supplies and
offerings were in close balance at
most points and where product was
available it was generally easy to
move in both graded and ungraded

Market Comment: Prices were
trending higher. Bookings for next
week’s schedule not finalized but
light to just fair offerings were
firmly held. Finished sales were
fair to fairly good, and sellers were
generally in anticipation of buyer
resistance to higher prices.
