WRIGHTSTOWN - One dairy farm family and one cow family reaped the majority of the champion rosettes and premier banners of the Bucks County Holstein Show held at the Mid dletown Grange Fairgrounds. Grand champion honors went to Fountain Farm Jet Queen, owned by Harry and Aliene Thompson, Newton. Queen classified at EX-93 and is a Jet Stream out of a VG-89 Elevation daughter. In her most recent lactation, she produced 22,622 pounds of milk and 798 pounds of fat. Queen’s daughter, Fountain Farm Pete Holly Queen owned by Harry and Aliene Thompson, took the junior champion honors. The junior champion was sired by Straight Pine Elevation Pete. Queen’s granddaughter, Fountain Farm Queens Violet owned by Craig Walton, took the reserve junior championship. The reserve junior champion was sired by Sir C Valor. The family affair continued with the owners of the animals. David Walton is the son-in-law of Harry Thompson and the owner of Tower-Vue Holsteins, winners of the premier breeder and premier exhibitor banners. He describes winning both premier banners as “quite an honor.’’ It came as a surprise to him since his family only showed nine head. “We were fortunate to have enough firsts in the senior division,’’ he noted in explaining the strength of his show string. Eight of the nine Tower-Vue Holsteins shown came in first or second. Six of these animals showed in the cow classes. He attributes the success to his family, notably his son, Craig, and daughter, Elizabeth, who cared for the show string before and during the show. Walton also won the reserve grand championship with his 4- year-old cow, Tower-Vue Jerry Cabaret-Twin. A Straight Pine Elevation Pete daughter, she classified VG-87. Reserve senior champion went to Ryan Wor thington’s 3-year-old daughter of Creek Bluff Elevation Lester. The junior champion, owned by Craig Walton, also claimed the reserve grand champion rosette. This animal previously placed as reserve junior champion of the open show. Reserve junior champion of the junior show went to Gerald Dabbs’ entry, Grosslyn Stewart Connie. Elwood Ohlinger of Reu-Hel Farm in Mohrsville judged the show. Carl and Janice Slack of Musicow Holsteins .acted as co chairmen of the show. Also serving on the show committee was; Harry and Aliene Thompson, Kenneth Worthington, Warren Buckman 111, Tex Peters, James Pavlica, James Phillips, Tom Haldeman, David Walton, David Wurster and Jerry Meyers.
