BIS-Lancasttr Farming, Saturday, September 6,1986 YORK - Although the thrills and chills of the midway draw many people to the York Fair, the heart and soul of the event is still agricultural. This year during the nine days (Sept. 5 to 13) when the country meets the city, fairgoers can enjoy a variety of rural at tractions. Horticulture Hall, located in the northeast corner of the Fairgrounds, is the place for exhibits from the bountiful farms, fields and kitchens of the Mid- Atlantic region. It is here where growers enter their prize-winning fruits and vegetables, including Pennsylvania’s largest pumpkin, and compete for York Fair and Guinness World records to win as much as $l,OOO in premiums. The shelves in the Hall are stacked with canned fruits, vegetables, and meats, as well as jams, jellies, marmalades, preserves and butters made with fruit.
