DOYLESTOWN - Dr. Joshua Feldstein has announced his in tention to retire as President of Delaware Valley College, effective June 30,1987. Feldstein was elected President of the College by the Board of Trustees and assumed office on July 15,1975. “I view this as a new beginning for myself and for the College,” said Feldstein. “For me, it will be a challenge. The College has been my life, and I intend to stay closely associated with it.” Among the notable ac complishments of Feldstein’s 12 years as president is the addition of two new academic majors; Honesdale, PA 717-729-7117 agribusiness in 1983 and Computer Information Systems Management in 1984. An extensive effort to renovate existing buildings and add new structures was also un dertaken. The James Work Memorial Stadium was completed in the fall of 1978. Quakertown PA 215-536-1935 building project of Feldstein’s tenure as president is the Student Center, which opened in the fall of 1983. ■ “I am extremely proud of the Student Center,” Feldstein said. “We knew there was a need for such a bidding on campus and the Student Center has filled that need. It was a monumental project that required the dedication of a great number of people. But it was well worth the hard work.” Feldstein immigrated to the United States from Lithuania in 1939 and enrolled in the National Farm School, where he graduated with a diploma in Horticulture in 1942. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the National Agricultural College, as it was later named, in 1952. Following graduation, he joined the instructional staff at the school as an assistant instructor and did post-graduate work in agricultural machinery. Feldstein then attended Rutgers University where he received his Masters of Science degree in Horticulture in 1956 and his Ph.D. in Horticulture in 1962. He became Professor of Hor ticulture at the College in 1965 and chaired the Horticulture Depart ment from 1959 to 1969. He was named Chairman of the Plant Science Division in 1966. In 1969 he was appointed Associate Dean of the College, becoming Dean in 1973. Feldstein and his wife, Miriam, have two sons, Theodore and Daniel. Theodore and his wife, Diane, live in Doylestown and Daniel lives at his parent’s home. Dr. Joshua Feldstein recently announced his retirement effective June 1987, as president of Delaware Valley College.
