During the eight days which were necessary for him to compete in three dif ferent shows, he claimed three championships with three different animals. The third, and most recent, championship happened on Thursday at the Elizabethtown Fair. Here, McCauley’s 3-year-old, Metcalfs Valiant Beauty-ET, topped her herdmate, Queen Star Sexy, to garner grand champion titles of the open and junior show. Crediting Beauty with greater width of rear udder and dairyness throughout, judge Lew Ayres, also commented on the closeness of the champion pair. This is the sixth consecutive Elizabethtown Show for the Kauffman family. Taking reserve junior champion was Timothy and Ruby Donough’s entry sired by Ford. Donoughs purchased this intermediate yearling heifer, at the April Spring Highlight Sale and plan on using her as one of the foundations of their developing herd. This is the first year they have shown at Elizabethtown. Donoughs also showed the grand champion of the colored breeds, a Jersey senior heifer calf. Brian Young claimed the junior championship of the junior show with his senior heifer calf and Jayanna Kopp walked away with the reserve ribbon. Win a 4-H hog championship that is. This time the 12-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs. Tony Folker, New Holland R 2, won the Elizabethtown fair event Tuesday evening. Last week a Folker entry won the Lancaster County 4-H Roundup at Manheim. Chad is a student at Summit Valley Elementary School in the Garden Spot district. His winning entry this week was a heavy weight cross between a Chester and a Hamp that came from Lyle Bidner Farm in Mohamet, Illinois. The reserve champion was shown by Duane Swanger, 10-year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Swanger, Bainbridge Rl. The Swanger champion was a Hamp/York cross that came from the White Oak Mills program, Elizabethtown. Show judge Gary Dean called the event an excellent quality show.
