We met a lot of new folks and we had a very productive trip. We are excited for this years marketing season! Remember that 609 Tobacco is very easily bruised and sun-burned. Cut your tobacco in blocks that you can handle. Try not to leave tobacco in field overnight. It is preferable to use ladder wagons. If you use flatbed wagons take care when loading & unloading, not to tramp on tobacco, etc. Do not let tobacco lay on flatbed for long length of time. When hanging tobacco in the barn, leave plenty of air space between laths. Since you are trying to "air dry” your tobacco it is a big help to close up your barn when the outside air is damp & reopen when air is clear & dry. If using mechanical drying methods be careful not to blow air directly at the tobacco but create a method to circulate the air around the tobacco. You've come this far to get tobacco in the barn; don’t “burn" it.
