Alt-Lancastar Faming, Saturday, August 23,1986 Sightseeing Rough And Tumble Old Threshermen 9 s Reunion You might have called it the greatest show on earth if you were an old time steam and gas engine buff. Certainly anyone who attended the Rough and Tumble Old Threshermen's Reunion at Kinzers last week would not likely have argued with you. At least you could join others in calling the event “one of the oldest shows of its kind." While you couldn’t see everything in two or three hours, you could get an education. Like when managing editor Everett Newswanger #1 "• K Of 2 *v made the rounds of the show and savy the old methods of threshing grain. Men, horses and primitive machines matched wits and brawn to get the job done. In the photos left to right starting at the top: (Row 1) Lots of power on the belt; Threshing and baling; Master of ceremonies Roland Woodward. (Row 2) Two horse power winding down the baler; Blowing chaff. (Row 3) Real horse power; A fork full of straw for the baler; Turning wheels, belts and pullies make dust; “Like father, like son.” (Row 4) Old timers reminisce; They have the engine fired up. pwr J * ■ r~¥ \ n *%*
