Open Holstein Show
John Morris from Maryland
judged the Holstein competition on
the final day of the Morrisons Cove
dairy shows. The Dave Burket
family of East Freedom exhibited
the kind of quality animals the
judge was looking for.
Burket Falls animals stood first
in most of the senior classes and
then came out on top for the honor
of grand champion. Burket Falls
also won the premier exhibitor and
premier breeder awards. This is
the second consecutive year that
Burkets have won those coveted
banners.
Globe-Run Farm of Petersburg
had reserve grand champion with
a senior 2 year old.
Alienor Holsteins from Bedford
helped to keep the competition
interesting. They had junior
champion and grand and reserve
grand champion bull. They also
won several group classes.
During the activities on Friday,
Russell Wyles, president of the
show board, presented a plaque to
Paul Ruth, who is retiring from
teaching vo-ag at Central High
School. He provided 31 years of
service to the Morrisons Cove
Dairy Show.
