822-iancast*r Farming, Saturday, August 2,1986 Chester County Youth Compete For Daily Honors At 4-H Round-Up KIMBERON - The Chester County 4-H Dairy Round-up was held at the Kimberton Fair Grounds Saturday, July 19. 4-H members from Chester County’s five dairy clubs showed over 70 animals, competing for ribbons in type, showmanship, and fitting. Judges for type were Dennis Patrick, herd manager of Rothrock Farm in Lehigh County, and Jerry Myers, a professor of dairy science at Delaware Valley College in Bucks County. Judging Fran Talley showed the champion brown Swiss. Winners in the Ayrshire show were, from left, Kelli Young with reserve junior champion, Matt Edwards holding Charles Young’s junior champion, Charles Young with reserve grand champion, and Jennifer Lamborn with Brian Nolan's grand champion. showmanship and fitting were Bruce Kreider, extension dairy agent in Dauphin County, and Alan Kozak, extension dairy agent in Centre County. The senior showman and fitter champion was Tiffany Yeager of Spring City, showing a senior 2- year-old Jersey cow. The reserve champion senior showman and fitter was Duane Stoltzfus of Morgantown, who showed a 5-year old Holstein cow. Junior showmanship and fitter champion went to Kelli Huzzard of Spring City and her 4-year-old Holstein cow, while reserve junior champion showman and fitter honors went to Troy Hendricks of Kimberton and his senior yearling Jersey heifer. Henry Yorgey of Spring City, took first year showman honors, and Owen Bewley of West Chester, took reserve champion first year showman honors. Yorgey and Bewley switched placings in the first year fitting contest, with Bewley taking first year champion fitter and Yorgey taking reserve champion first year fitter. Type judging was very competi tive, with Duane Stoltzfus of Morgantown, taking grand champion Holstein honors with his 5-year-old Pennwood Earl Sophia. Reserve grand champion HoMein went to Dwight Stoltzfus of Morgantown, with his 3-year-old Pennwood BE Sandra. Junior champion Holstein honors went to Lauri Hicks of West Chester, with her senior yearling Maplebound Maple Donna. Reserve junior champion Holstein honors went to Henry Yorgey of Spring City, with his Intermediate Calf Hewitts Maestro Marie. Ayrshire competition saw Brian Nolan of Parkesburg take grand champion with his 4-year-old Tower View Jerry’s Candice, while reserve grand champion Ayrshire honors went to Charles Young of West Grove, and his senior 2-year old Timberlawn Roger’s SH HI-C. Young also took junior champion honors with his senior calf, Tim berlawn’s Ross’s Don’s Rose. Kelli Young took reserve junior champion honors with her in termediate calf. In Guernsey competition, grand champion honors went to Noel Scheib of Phoenixville, with her 4- year-old French Creek Fayvor Lily.
