Four Young Women Will Compete For Lancaster
County Poultry Queen In August 8 Contest
LANCASTER Four young
ladies will compete for the Lan
caster County Poultry Queen title
during the annual contest Aug. 8 at
the Farm and Home Center. The
contest will begin at 6:15 p.m.
The poultry queen contestants
are:
• Tricia Ann Hamish, the 17-year
old daughter of Abe and Sue
Hamish of Millersville. A 1986
graduate of Penn Manor High
School, Tricia helps her parents
take care of 62,000 layer hens.
• Debra May High, the 17-year-old
daughter of Carl and Alice High of
Bender Mill Road, Lancaster. A
1986 graduate of Penn Manor High
School, Debra helps on her
family’s 21,000 layer farm and
works at Hubers Nursery.
• Lois Ann Martin, the 19-year-old
daughter of Leroy and Laura
Martin of Ephrata. Lois attended
Conestoga Valley Senior High
School and lives on a broiler farm
of 100,000 capacity. She also works
at Meyer’s making baby clothes.
• Elizabeth Ann Simmons, is the
18-year-old daughter of Charles
and Shirley Simmons. She resides
at Harvest Road, Elizabethtown. A
graduate of Elizabethtown Area
High School, Elizabeth will be a
sophomore at Elizabethtown
College in the fall. She is a part
time secretary at Plain and Fancy
Egg Ranch.
The winner of the contest will
receive either a $5OO scholarship or
$3OO cash and the runner-up will
receive a $3OO scholarship or $l5O
cash. All contestants receive a
watch for entering the contest.
The program for the evening will
be country western bluegrass with
Spray proof AND high performance
agricultural coifing fans.

LITITZ Members of the Boots
and Saddles 4-H Club brought
home numerous awards following
the County Roundup for horse and
pony clubs. The round-up was held
at the Lower Hopewell Horse Show
Farm in Lititz on July 19.
Competitors placing in the top
three positions of their class will go
on to district competition
scheduled for Aug. 16 at Heritage
Acres in Dillsburg.
