Northeast Region Fashion Revue

WILLIAMSPORT - Everything
from romantic gowns to men’s
apparel was pirouetted on the
runway at the second annual 4-H
Regional Fashion Revue, July 28,
at the Lycoming Genetti Motor
Inn, Williamsport.
Sixty-four 4-H’ers from nine
counties in the Northeast-West
Region took part in the day-long
program. In the senior division six
gold medal winners were chosen to
represent the Northeast-West
Region at State 4-H Fashion
Revue, Aug. 5, on the Penn State
University Campus. Six junior gold
medal participants were also
recognized for outstanding work.
Three senior division gold medal
winners were selected from Tioga
County. They were Darlene Ogden,
Helen Norman, and Kathy Black.
Additional winners were Linda
Meiser, Snyder County; Amy
Cotner, Union County; Terri
Packard, Bradford County; and
Kim Beishline, Columbia County.
Kathy Black was elected a gold
medal winner, but because she will
be unable to be present at the State

12 Students To Attend National Co-op Institute
HUNTINGDON - Twelve
Commonwealth young adults who
served as delegates to a summer
youth institute held at Juniata
College have been named to attend
the annual meeting of the
American Institute of Cooperation
at Knoxville, Tennessee, August 4
through 7.
Those named are: Sarah Baker,
RD 4, Bedford; Clifton Brubaker,
RD 1, Loysville; Darlene Coover,
RD 1, Carlisle; Andy Greenleaf,
RD 1, Martinsburg; Gwen Gray,
RD 1, Schells burg; Mike Hall, 1716
Pioneer Rd., Lancaster; Mike
Heim, Rt. 2, Felton; Scott Lem
mon, RD 1, Newburg; Beth

ticipant to take her place.
At the State Revue senior
division gold medal winners will
compete with top winners from
other regions. The State winner
will get an expense-paid trip to
National 4-H Congress in Chicago,
Dec. 7 to 11.
Receiving the junior gold medal
awards were two Union County 4-
H’ers, Allison Beckley and
Michelle Reichley; two Snyder
County participants, Danielle
Stauffer and Abbey Remaley;
Kelly Beishline, Columbia County;
and Cheryl Viaud, Lycoming
County.
Semi-finalists in the senior
division were Dawn Bacon,
Bradford County; Amy Remley,
Columbia County; Ann Baranoski,
Snyder County; and Stacy Miller,
Tioga County.
Junior division semi-finalists
were three Northumberland
County entrants, Jean Styer, Bobbi
Housner, and Janel Stuck.
Remaining semi-finalists were
Malena Moore, Snyder County;
Wendy Mitstifer, Lycoming
County; and Michaelene Seibert,

They were chosen on the basis of
a report covering local activities, a
quiz on cooperative business
functions, and leadership activities
while at the institute.
At the national convention, the
delegates will take part in various
programs designed to increase
their knowledge of farmer
cooperatives and agribusiness.
They will join with 900 young
agricultural leaders from all parts
of the United States, Canada, and
Puerto Rico.

Doug Haladay and James Aten
took part in the revue. Doug, 14, of
the Roaring Creek Valley 4-H Club
modeled a stylish shirt and pants.
This is Doug’s fourth sewing
project knd he says his sister
encourages him in his sewing
efforts.
James Aten of the Centre 4-H
Club modeled his seventh sewing
project, a shirt, pants, and lined
blazer. James reports his mom is
the sewing leader and he likes to
sew.
Judges for the second annual
regional revue were Mrs. James
Bookwalter, Lock Haven; Jean
Benfer, Shermans Dale; Cheryl
Miller, Lock Haven; Betty Shafer,
Millville; and Marian Mains,
Duncannon.
The State Fashion Revue
program is sponsored by the
Pennsylvania Cooperative Ex
tension Service. Chairman of the
regional revue was Barbara P.
Kinnan, Tioga County; co
chairman was Eleanor Yarrison,
Lycoming County.
