MARTINSBURG - Holstein
breeders gathered at Memorial
Park on July 25 for the annual
Blair County Holstein Club Sale
where a fine line-up of Holsteins
awaited the bidder’s attention.
Chestnut-Knoll Bell Helen at
tracted the most attention, cap
turing the top price of $4,600 when
the gavel went down for the final
time.
A 3-year-old daughter of Carlin-
M Ivanhoe Bell, she is projected to
produce 17,706 pounds of milk and
663 pounds of fat during her first
lactation. Her dam, Chestnut-Knoil
Pete Dancy, is scored EX-90 and
has a top record of 26,230 pounds of
milk and 888 pounds of fat.
Fidelity Holsteins, Martinsburg,
consigned the top seller. The Bell
Hell Syndicate of Blair County was
the successful bidder.
William and Vera Shultz, Berlin,
consigned the second high animal,
Welk-Crest Wileeda Pride. She
sold for |1,900 to Young’s Wood
Farm, Dilltown.
A 3-year-old daughter of Wileeda
Citation R, she classified at 82
points. Her dam, Ben-Lou
Elevation Pauline, classified at 88
points and produced a top record of
20,440 pounds of milk and 1,125
pounds of fat for a 5.5 test as an 8-
year-old.
A stylish, recently fresh, 2-year
old daughter of Knoll Top Reckers
Ace sold for the third high price of
$1,850.

produced, as a 3-year-old, a top

She was consigned by Burket
Falls Farm of East Freedom and
purchased by Ken, Steve and Ron
Mowry of Roaring Springs.
Blackcrest Farms of Altoona
consigned the fourth high selling
animal. Ken Brockett of Tyrone
bought her for |1,600.
Blackcrest Molly Chief Nina sold
fresh and is currently milking 65
pounds of milk per day. Her dam,
Blackcrest Reliance NaDene, is
classified VG-88 and has a top
record of 22,176 pounds of milk and
968 pounds of fat.
Two cows sold for the fifth high
price of $1,450.
The first cow to sell for this price
tag was Lar-Ann Chairman
Anabel, recently fresh and milking
at 67 pounds per day. Her dam Lar-
Ann Pete Apricot produced 17,436
pounds of milk and 607 pounds of
fat as a 2-year-old.
She was consigned by Larry
Kulp, Martinsburg, and Brian
England, Williamsburg, was the
buyer.
Abo selling at the $1,450 level
was Burket Falls' entry, Burket
Falb Tony Carmelia, a recently
fresh 2-year-old. Her dam, Burket
Falb Abner Carmon, classified at
85 points. As a 3-year-old, she
produced a top record of 19,519
pounds of milk and 871 pounds of
fat.
Carmelia sold to the Brockett
Brothers.
Barry England, sale chairman
and manager, reported that the
sale averaged $1,235 on 32 animab.
