tune are tough for fanners, the
tough farmers have one Essential
question: “How can I squeeze a

For some new answers to that
old question, farmers and
agricultural leaders can look this
year to the Wye Field Day,
sponsored by the University of
Maryland.
“Farmers want to know how to
increase their profitability, not
necessarily their yields. And in
planning this year’s program,
we’ve tried to fill that information
need,” says Brinsfield.
The following is a sampling of
what’s in store;
• Row crop farmer? can find out
how to get the most' out of their
investment in herbicides, which
are the up and coming soybean
varieties, and how they can help
reduce pollution of surface and
ground water supplies.
• Fruit, vegetable and nursery
producers can learn the latest on
the blossoming cut-flower industry
m this area, how well new virus
free blackberries are performing,
how to manage high-density
plantings of peaches, and how to
deal with pests on ornamental
plants.
• Livestock and forage
producers will leam how to
measure and improve the
reproductive capabilities of beef
bulls and cows, and how to graze
more animals on their fields.
• Farm families and anyone with
financial responsibilities in an
agricultural business will get
