    YORK - Fifty-five 4-H mem
bers competed on Wednesday, July
9 at the York County 4-H Center,
for 13 positions to attend Regional
4-H Fashion Revue. The day-long
event featured judging by
professional judges, a modeling
and staging workshop, and
clothing games.
Winners in the senior division
are Sue Eisenhart, Thomasville;
Susan Marsteller, Stewartstown;
Krista Rankin, Abbottstown; Kim

Special programs were
presented by Marcy Seckman on
the Hobby Lock Machine, courtesy
of Yorktowne Sewing Center, and
Greta Maneval on Accessorizing
your Outfits. She is the assistant
buyer for misses coordinates at the
Bon Ton in the York Mall.
The Regional 4-H Fashion Revue
will be held July 22 at 8:30 a.m. at
the Cumberland Valley High
School near Carlisle. Four-H’ers
from seven counties will compete
to select seven winners to attend
the statewide competition August 4
to 6 at Penn State University
during State 4-H Achievement
Days.
Delaware Extension Nutritionist Refins
NEWARK, Del. - Marguerite E.
Krackhardt, an extension nutrition
specialist at the University of
Delaware, has retired after more
than 19 years of service. Since July
1982 she- has coordinated the
Delaware Extension System’s
Expanded Foods and Nutrition
Education Program (EFNEP) a
federally-funded program
designed to teach people on limited
incomes how to prepare more
nutritious meals.

hardt holds a bachelor’s degree in
home economics from the
University of Massachusetts and a
master’s in food and nutrition from
Colorado State University. She
became a registered dietitian in
1970. Before joining the Delaware
extension staff in 1966, she was an
extension nutritionist at Penn
sylvania State University. She has
also worked as an extension home
economist in Duke’s County,
Mass., and taught high school

“I’ve always felt that my
responsibility as a nutritionist was
to bring the very best and most
reliable information to the public
and other extension staff mem
bers,” Krackhardt says, sum
marizing the philosophy which has
guided her career. “My great
concern has been that many people
still practice food handling
techniques that aren’t in the best
interest of safety.”
