the dirt out before the grain goes
into the drier avoids the problem.
Grain harvested by rotary
combines compares favorably
with recleaned grain harvested by
a conventional combine, according
to Nooyan, who is product
manager for combines at New
Holland. This gives the rotary
operator more efficient drying.
Conventional combine operators
can get part of the rotary ad
vantage by recleaning grain before
drying.
But rotary combines do more
than give you grain that’s com
parable to recleaned grain from a
conventional combine, Nooyen
points out. They thresh with less
grain damage. This reduced kernel
damage “goes the second mile”
for you in improved drier
operation. Grain that isn’t already
cracked and scuffed before it gets
to the drier seems to come out in
better shape, too. It’s this final,
dried grain that you get paid for
and that’s what the elevator
checks for quality. Rotaries give
you a competitive edge because
they improve the harvest all the
way to the elevator.
