A capacity crowd at Warren Bollinger's 80-View Farm complete milking herd dispersal
last Friday night saw 80-View Eric Ann (in the ring) top the sale at $2,400. Purchased by
Kirby Horst, Newmanstown, at the Smoketown Quality Dairy Sales Barn in Smoketown,
this 83 pt. two-year-old was projected for 305 days at nearly 19,000 pounds of milk. The
dam was an 88 pt. four-year-old with a record of 21,913 milk, and 873 fat in 365 days.
David and Daniel Groff, Lebanon, bought the second high entry for $1,750. 80-View
lewelmaker Pam the just fresh three-year-old had finished a record of 2y 15,028 milk,
3.8%, 570 fat.
Horst also bought an 82 point three-year-old with 19,620 milk, 692 fat for $1,700 and
an 83 point three-year-old with 18,514 milk and 584 fat in 292 days for $1,675.
J. Kenneth Miller, Manheim, purchased Lynncrest Sunshine ET for $1,685. The
Sunshine cow was milking over 100 lbs. of milk per day after making 19,360 milk as a
two-year-old and 21,055 milk as a three-year-old.
A total of 58 cows averaged $1,224. The sale was managed by Gordon and Hellen

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The
fourth weekly report on the buyout
was released by the USDA on
Wednesday.
USDA figures show an estimated
31,500 head of cattle in the program
were slaughtered during the week
ending May 24. This figure in
cludes all cows, heifers and calves
in the DTP, according to the USDA
spokesman.
An estimated cumulative total of
397,900 head have been slaughtered
since the beginning of the DTP on
April 1.
Meat purchases by the govern
ment reached 29.9 million pounds
for the week ending June 7. This
meat was purchased in the form of
5.9 million pounds of canned beef,
22,954,500 pounds of bulk-frozen
ground beef, and 988,000 pounds of
choice beef roasts.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The
U.S. Department of Agriculture’s
Farmers Home Administration
has begun accepting applications
for grants to help repair and
rehabilitate homes for very-low
and low-income rural
homeowners, FmHA Ad
ministrator Vance L. Clark said
today.
Applications will be accepted
beginning June 12 until July 28
from qualified public and private
nonprofit organizations for grants
totaling more than $l9 million.

USDA Buyout Report
The cumulative total meat
purchases is 120,876,828 pounds.
Cumulative number of dairy
cows that were reported for export
since April 1, totaled 8,241 head.
This total is expected to increase
as foreign countries are preparing
to take advantage of the Export
Enhancement program.
Dairymen who requested a
change in their buyout period
received notification of acceptance
or rejection of their proposal
yesterday. Preliminary figures
indicate a minimal number of
participants have requested a
change in their buyout period,
according to a A CSC spokesman in
Harrisburg.
Uncompleted contracts remain
in a holding pattern until congress
approves a supplemental funding
bill for CCC. No date was given
when this bill can be expected.

Clark said applicants must
demonstrate a need for home
repair and rehabilitation in the
area to be served; an acceptable
plan for selecting the individual
recipients and assuring the qualify
of work performed; support for the
program by the local government
of the area to be served; and
sources of additional support, if
any, to supplement the grant
funds.
Clark said the Agency an
ticipates awarding about 100
grants before the end of Sep
tember.
