USDA figures show an estimated 31,500 head of cattle in the program were slaughtered during the week ending May 24. Cumulative number of dairy cows that were reported for export since April 1, totaled 8,241 head. This total is expected to increase as foreign countries are preparing to take advantage of the Export Enhancement program. Dairymen who requested a change in their buyout period received notification of acceptance or rejection of their proposal yesterday.
