as well as awards to the judging
winners. Approximately 25
agribusinesses will be setting up
displays. Fried chicken box lun
ches will be available.
The annual show is scheduled for
August 21 at 5:30 p.m. Show
chairman is Paul Eckstine. Judge
of the show is Dennis Patrick of
Rothrock Farms, Kempton. Only
Franklin County residents are
eligible to show here, and the total
entries usually exceeds 175. This
total makes it one of the largest
county shows in the state.

animals that went on to become
winners in the All-Pennsylvania
contest.
This year Franklin County will
have a new project. On October 10,
at the Franklin County
Fairgrounds, they will host their
first solo sale in 10 years. It is
planned to have 50 of the best
animals from within the county
and from surrounding areas.
Robert Eckstine and Brad Beidel
will be heading up this project.
In November the club will hold
their annual tour. It has been their
policy to tour an area that can be
completed between milkings one
year. The alternate year, an area
further away is selected,
sometimes overnight. This com
pletes a two-year cycle.
Jaye Young serves as chairman
of the Youth Committee which has
156 members. The officers of the
Junior Holstein Club are: Debbie
Hawbaker, president; Tom
Eckstine, vice-president;
Stephanie Meyers, secretary; and
Beverly Meyers, treasurer.
The youth hold a bowling and
pizza fun night in the spring. They
also hold a youth show with the
county Holstein Show. In the
summer, an ice cream social and
ball game is held.
Franklin County has a very busy
and effective Dairy Promotion
Committee. From the start, this
committee has been chaired by
members of the Holstein Club.
