Check Our Prices of Grain-Fuel Ethanol Program WASHINGTON - Acting Secretary of Agriculture Daniel G. Amstutz today ruled out the compounding of benefits for producers of fuel ethanol who take advantage of the Commodity Credit Corporation’s grain-fuel ethanol program. Under the program producers can earn a commodity certificate equal to one bushel of CCC-owned grain for every 2% bushels of grain removed from the marketplace. “Fuel-ethanol producers who acquire grain with a CCC cer tificate or buy grain with the proceeds of a CCC certificate cannot use that grain to generate more assistance,” said Amstutz. After ruling out this form of compound benefits, Amstutz an nounced the following additional details of the program, which uses surplus grain to aid the financially distressed fuel ethanol industry. • Producers must submit proof that they bought grain and turned the grain into fuel ethanol during an eligible processing month to qualify for certificates.
