Market Comment: A weak tone
continued to dominate trading as
spent hen offerings increased
sharply. Prices were lower for this
week’s trading and developing at
lower levels for next week’s ac
tivity. Processor schedules were
full or at desired levels, and
bookings were noted well into July.
Additional finished product sales
were somewhat disappointing.

Market Comment: Movement of
ready to cook whole birds con
tinued moderate, and sufficient to
keep offerings fairly well
balanced. Advanced interest was
noted as moderate to good, par
ticularly in the New England area
where featuring was planned on
both whole birds and parts.
Demand for parts was fair to good,
and premiums continued to be paid
in most instances for additional
product. Less than trucklot asking
prices were generally unchanged
at 57-61 cents. Live supplies con
tinued adequate. Weights were
irregular in a range of light to
heavy. Slaughter schedules were
moderately heavy. The undertone
was a bit steadier.
