Major Dairy Sales
And Dispersals

Reports from five sales for the
week of May 29 to June 5 showed
260 head averaging $1,056.73.
These sales were held in Min
nesota, Ohio, Louisiana, Wisconsin
and Kansas. The top prices at the
sales ranged from $4,800 to $B5O.
Here is a brief look at the results of
these sales.
JERSEY
The 59TH ANNUAL FOLCK
CLASSIC SALE held in Ohio,
averaged $1,120 on 52 head. The top
selling animal was sired by Jessie
Son Imperial and sold for $4,100.
This 3-year old produced a 2-year
old record of 10,660 pounds of milk
and 506 pounds of fat. Second in the
bidding was a daughter of But
terfield Keynote. This 3-year old
sold for $2,100. She produced a
record of 13,512 pounds of milk and
623 pounds of fat.
Melvin Woodruff was the auc
tioneer and Chester Folck and Sons
were the sale managers.
The RICHLAND IN
VITATIONAL AND JO-AN-JO
QUALITY PRODUCTION SALES,
held in Kansas, averaged $893.05
on 51 head.
A 3-year old topped this sale with
a price of $1,925. She is a daughter
of Grove Sprines Master Pal.
Second in the bidding, selling for
$1,750, was a 4-year old daughter of
Golden Faithful. Buyers came
from six states and the auctioneer
was Boyd Michael.
HOLSTEIN
The UPPER MIDWEST
CLASSIC SALE held in Minnesota,
averaged $1,534 on 60 head. A
Hilltopper Elevation Warden
daughter topped this sale with a
price of $4,800. This December calf
is from three generations of very
good dams that combined type
with production. Her dam
produced a high record of 22,620
pounds of milk and 856 pounds of
fat.
Also selling for $4,800 was a
yearling by the Canadian bull
Sheik. Auctioneer for the sale was
Sunny Bartel and Dave Bachman
read pedigrees.
The LOUISIANA STATE SALE
averaged $1,315.35 on 57 head.
Topping the sale was a 3-year old
by Bell with the price of $2,800. She
is working on a record which is
currently at 16,525 pounds of milk
and 561 pounds of fat. Her dam, a
Moneymaker daughter, produced
a record of 21,400 pounds of milk.
A Valiant daughter sold for
$2,500 for the second highest price.
This heifer is bred to Arlinda
Rotate and has a TPPI of 611 with
places her in the 90 percentile. Her
dam, an excellent Elevation
daughter, produced a record of
30,690 pounds of milk and 997
pounds of fat.
Third in the bidding was a
Tradition daughter bred to Rotate.
Her dam, sired by Electra,
produced a record of 22,470 pounds
of milk.
Auctioneer was Irvin Yoder of
Georgia. The Louisiana Holstein
Association managed the sale.
MILKING SHORTHORN
' The WISCONSIN DAIRYLAND
SALE averaged $421.25 on 40 head.
The seven cows sold averaged
$6lO, while the 15 bred heifers
averaged $565.
Topping the sale was a bred
heifer by Class Reunion, selling for
$B5O. Second in the bidding, with a
price of $825 was a 3-year old by
New Park Gay King.
The Wisconsin Breeders pur
chased a 2-year old at this sale for
donation to the Milwaukee County
Zoo.
Prices were lower than expected
at this sale, according to the sale
representative, due to the ex
cellent hay making weather
Wisconsin was experiencing,
keeping away potential buyers.
