row crops, since joining the Brown
family business after graduation in
1976.
The Browns are quick to em
phasize and praise the team spirit
of family and capable, loyal em
ployees. Barry Diehl, an employee
of many years, is the field
foreman. Charlotte Dell is known
to many customers as the familiar
face at the retail sales counter, and
assists with grading. Bill Ream
designs the fruit baskets and
assists with general market
responsibilities. Kathryn Miller is
baker and bakery manager,
assisted by Sharon Leader, and
“fancy” baker Linda Morris who
prepares the gourmet and
specialty breads. A number of
part-time and seasonal employees
completes the cropping and
retailing team.
And it is retailing that is the
driving force behind this suc
cessful family farm operation. The
